d day (dee de) update

well...dd had her disbudding today. Vet lightly gassed her and then burned. OMG I am sorry..there is no way I could ever do that. Even her drugged I wanted to cry.
Vet did a stool that came back negative and gave the tetanus antitoxin. She billed me 20.00 but i called and told the girls the stool and shot hadnt been charged for. The disbudding was 20$.Imagine maytbe another 15.00 for the other stuff. WELL worth me not having to do it.
Heres a pic of dd at 1 week old..a few days before her horns were burned burned....

I used to hate it, and I thought that I could never do it. Then I experienced firsthand some problems with animals with horns.
I do it myself now. It amazes me........they scream at moments, and then as soon as I am done, they are out bouncing around as if nothing happened.

What a cute picture! She is a doll
I sat in the truck while my babies were being disbudded. I couldn't handle that. You did good!

I said this in another post. When I first started doing my own kids I burnt the crap outa my thumb with the iron. It hurt for abit but after that it was numb. Even when I pressed on it I didn't feel a thing.

I know that I do not wANT any of my goats to have horns. It is a have to do..or at the very least have to hire someone to do. I do puppy dews and can dock tails. I dont like to but I can do it. Horns are entirely another matter .
