teat dip?

What kind of teat dip do you use if you still have babies nursing on the mom?
Or do you not dip at all?
Is it ok for them to eat it? They always seem to nurse right after The milking.

I use a chlorox pre-wash and an iodine post dip. Kills everything that is bad. Iodine does not hurt kids and besides, most does kick off the wet stuff before the kids get to it anyway.......

I stopped using chlorhexadine (Fight Bac) becasue it does not kill pseudomonas bacteria. Also, many folks do not use Fight Bac correctly and it actually pushes the bad stuff back up into the teat end and up into the udder.

I am under the belief that the kids' saliva is the best teat sealant.
(no, I cannot figure out how to spell that word for something that seals the opening, lol)
I use a dip if no kids nursing, but if doe is with kids, then I let them do it.
(try feeling kid spit. it is sticky and dries fast.)

Thanks, I rather put no chemicals on her if I have the choice!
And figure the kids nurse off her all day, and no one is spraying her after they eat!

I stopped using Fight Bac because my hands and hands broke out in welts whenever I did use it. Chlorhexadine doesn't do it to me, so it must be something else in the Fight Bac. It is also extremely expensive if you are milking more than a couple does.

I use an iodine dip and kind of wipe it off after 10 minutes (it's dry by then) then let the kids in with moms. I noticed that this is the first time I had kids that didn't have milk-goiter too!
