Supplementing with egg shells for milking does

Does anyone give their milking does ground up egg shells? If so, how much do you give them?

Why would anyone want too when alfalfa has plenty of calcium in it and its a more natural type of feed?
Goat are pure herbivore and they don't eat animal products and shouldn't.

Feed those shells back to the chickens or put them around your favorite plants that you dont want slugs on.

I've never heard of the slug control. Interesting.

Great childhood memories.... Mama would toast the egg shells in the oven, crunch them and feed them back to the hens. The idea was that they needed the calcium to make new shells. The toasting would alter the shell so that the hen wouldn't break eggs to get the shell.

Yeah you just put it around the plant. They dont like that stuff it hurts their cute little slimy bodies.
Paul, I never heard of toasting those shells in the oven, I usually just crush em up after they've dried out. But it makes sense!

Great minds think alike!
Actually, My DH and I were talking about how to bring up our calcium in the mineral. The one I picked up was low
I thought of the same thing...crushing egg shells to granules and Tom thought we could add it to the minerals. Sure would like to know if anyone has tried it.
