Thanks everyone, another question

thanks for the replys on feeding hay. I have another question. I have 3 mini nubians. 2 months old. weighing around 20 lbs a piece. They are getting a full bottle every morning and night. I give them one nice size pad of good hay three times a day in which they do not clean up. But they act like they are starving to death and looking for that bottle. I also let them browse a couple times a day. Their tummies look full. A bit of bulging on both sides. They also have loose minerals and soda. All they seem to think about is getting the bottle. My fingers are getting sore. LOL Do babies all act like this untill they are weaned? thanks again. Andrea

Are you giving them any grain? This helps mine and mine dont try to always suck on my fingers. I give mine 2 bottles a day also as they are nearing the 4 mths age. I grain mine and give alfalfa pellets and whole oats and goat grain mixed together and they also get hay. Goat are always going to act hungry. Just keep your fingers out of the way and soon they get it...mine chew on everything too...even my clothes.

A goat is *always* looking for food, adults and kids.

Totally agree with the others...a healthy goat is always looking for a meal, snack, tidbit, morsel, desert...I have much more concern when they are not interested in food!

They will do that as long as they think you MIGHT feed them, even when they are so full they can barely walk.

I had a bottle fed lamb that STILL begged when he was a year old

They crave that milk because their body tells them it's the best food source they are getting, so get all you can! Yes, goats (and dogs) always think they are starving.
