Summer Heat Cycles?

What are the chances that my 3 year old Nubian does could have been bred when they got together with my buck this past week? They don't normally come into heat this time of year, right? Should I mark my calendar just in case anything happened?

Always mark your calendar if a buck is with does.
I *never* have does in heat this time of year. But *this* year I have had half my herd cycling in the past two weeks. I will be using Lute to abort a few does that my dam-raised 2-1/2 month old buckling repeatedly bred.....these are mature does too! I cannot do fall kiddings with my crazy schedule.

Thanks for the replies, Emily and Susanne. I had no idea they could be bred this time of year! October may be really interesting!

No problem! In the past I would have gladly welcomed fall kids, but since taking on the dairy and cheeseplant, its hard enough to do one kidding season per year.....no way I can handle two.

We've had a fall kidding season with the nubians every year (I normally breed about half the does each may to kid in Oct) HOWEVER this year, my fall looks to be crazy and I'm holding everyone off for a mid-spring kidding season.. I was hoping that by just keeping a good amount of distance between the does & bucks would be enough... but alas, we have stinky guys & tail wagging does galore...
