Talking Do your does throw kids with a certain look?

I just realized that my favorite doe always throws kids with several distinct looks. No matter what buck shes bred to. All 12 kids shes had have combinations of these....

1. Petite: always does, never bucks. Very cute, narrow face, tiny bones, scruff of hair on back of the neck. Normal size. Never combined with any other "look" so far! 3 kids had this look.

2. Long nose: long face, straight profile, big nostrils. Often have heavily lidded eyes. Usually combined with the "long body" look. 3 kids had this look.

3. Long body: long, lean, higher withers. Favored by judges! Usually combined with the "long nose" look. 4 kids had this look.

4. Cute face: a normal length nose, medium wide head, concave profile, normal ears. Usually combined with the "normal body" look, but sometimes with the "long body". 4 kids had this look

5. Normal body: not any longer than average, proportional. Usually combined with the "cute face" look, but sometimes with the "dopey face". (There is a variation on this look, the "buff but normal" look. She had a set of twin bucks that had massive chests and "steroid" heavy muscling.) 5 kids have had this look.

6. Dopey face: similar to the "long face", but with a larger nose and combined with much larger ears. Usually combined with the "long body" or "normal body". 2 kids have had this look.

Its fun to see which looks pop up each year. This year, her son Basil looks exactly like his half brother from 2 years ago, Chandler. They both have the long body, long face looks.

Your does do this too?

I wouldn't say that the kids always look alike, but some tend to bear similaities to the dam. Melia has always had brown kids. She has one daughter, Winter Carnival, who looks exactly like her with one exception, Carnival's udder is a nice improvement over Melia's. Carnival's doelings look similar to her. Hopefully, their udders will be as nice or nicer than hers. Now. if I could have Nubian doe's who consistantly threw top show quality udders, I'd be ecstatic.

One of my Saanens, Tiara, has a "pretty" face which pops up. Her daughter, a 1/2 Nigie, has it, her kids have it, and my Alpine/Saanen doe, Emily, has it - her sire was the Saanen's twin brother. Emily also has a very similar udder and teats to her "aunt".

Our herd sire that died a few months ago would throw solid black, solid white and I think we figured it out once, about every 5th kid had color, black and white. Very weird and it did not matter what doe he was bred to, it was always the same. We have one of his solid black, one solid white and one alpine colored bucks. I can't wait to see what they throw.
