LGD question

We have 2 Great Pyr. full blooded just not registered. Our female had pups on Sunday 3 females and 1 male. My question is how long do you leave them with mom before putting them up for sale. We got our female when she was 2 years old and our male was 4 mo. I had always heard that they need to stay with mom until they were 4 mo old. Is this kinda the "rule" or thing to do?

Well, mine won't leave the mom until weaned, but I've already sold a few and they are only a week old. Weaning (about 8 weeks) is okay to let them go.

Those are some very cute cute puppies!

NO puppies should leave mom untill weand, but the longer they can stay with mom and learn how to be a dog and yet more specifically learn that that breed of dog is MENT to do the better, 8weeks is the BARE MINNIMUM i would consider for any dog, for an LGD i would rather 10 or 11 weeks but thats just me,

Thanks. I raised Schnauzers for years and they stayed with Mom until 8 weeks old. This is our first pups with a LGD and I knew the longer they stayed with Mom the better. I would never sell a pup that wasn't weened and eating solid food well. When we got our female she was 2 years old and was a working dog and her owners just sold her herd and she needed a job. We got our male at 4 months old and he is an excellent working dog as well.

Thanks for the compliment on the pups LOC. I'm pretty proud of them. I'm gonna have a hard time letting them go. I only bred my schnauzer 2 times and it broke my heart everytime I sent one to a new home. I'm sure this won't be any easier.
