Goat baths?

My Dh and I just rescued an Angora goat. She was in pretty bad shape. Completely covered in cockle burrs... poor thing couldn't even lay down. Person we got her from told us he thought her leg was broken from being kicked by a cow.... nope just the worst case of hoof rot I have ever seen. We are treating all that.... what I would like to know is can I bathe her? We clipped her but not short. For right now she is living in my back yard and not around my other goats. Except for the hoof rot she is healthy and gaining weight. Oh BTW she may be bred... she was in with a boer buck for about 2 months before we got her.

I don't see why you couldn't. The goat won't like it but I don't see how it would hurt it in any way unless it's cold there.

Goats don't like the really cold water. If it is warm enough, go ahead and bathe her. What I do when I'm gonna bath my goats is I get a tub of warm water. I use a 40 gal trough. I fill it with water and let it sit in the sun for a few hours. That lets it warm up to the outside temperatures. Then when I put the goat in, it isn't such a shock and they tolerate it well. When they get hit with that cold water right out of the hose, they get pretty ticked off, but when the water is tolerable, they actually don't mind it so much, at least mine don't. Either way, wear your rain gear!
