12 weeks and in heat?

My mini-saanen is about 12 weeks old now and is acting like she's in heat-- very demanding for attention, more vocal than usual, and seems to be pinker and more 'open' looking in her back end. We don't have a buck at this time, but she's also been mounting her sister a lot...

Is this her first heat? Isn't that kind of early?

She is very mature, considering her age...

It's possible - that's why we separate the bucklings at 8 weeks!

Since she is a mini its possible she is taking on the mini side of genetics instead of the Saanen side... Some minis do this and some dont.

It's been really warm here and we've had chickens here and at my MILs house go broody at an insane rate-- I wonder if the weather is a trigger?

Well, I guess it's a good thing our buckling won't be ready to come home until August, then!
