Dehorning

Is it too late to use paste on 4 month old goats? The horn I see is about 1/8 to 1/4 inches long.

So it must be a scur? Be careful when using the paste because it can run & get in the eyes if not really careful, Not sure since I don't use it but I would think it could cause blindness if in the eye.

Don't ever, ever ever, use paste on goats. It doesn't work, and they're far too mobile to absolutely avoid the paste getting into their eyes.

find someone who can disbud. they sound small enough that an experienced disbudder could handle them. it may seem better to use the paste but remember it does the same thing as a dehorner it is just a chemical burn that lasts alot longer! and the risk vs reward is not acceptable imo.

The paste stings like the dickens ...dont ask how I know...I wont ever use it again adn the babies cant stand the stinging either...I used it 1 time and wont ever do it again as they got it all over me and you have to hold them...I was burning and so were they...nope just disbud them if the horn buds are that small. wont take but a few seconds to do it and with paste it takes at least 30 minutes.
