goats for brush clearing

I have some hilly ground in the front of my property (probably 3 acres) covered in brush. Mainly sticker bushes and grape vines. am looking into getting some goats to clear out the brush. I do not want to fence in the entire area for cost reason and would like to build portable fenced area with livestock panels and once they have cleared an area move th fences. Has anyone tried this? How large of a fence d area would I need per goat?

thanks

Well, I really think it depends on how much you have to clear.

I rented out three of my goats to eat down a area that was about 7 feet by 30 feet, they had it gone in about three days.

Cashmere goats are known for weed clearing goats. All goats will eat the weed but Cashmere will eat all the noxious weeds that the others will not. There is a lady that rent out her goats for this all the time to States parks and thing.

Electric fence is cheap and easy. How about fencing it in with T-Posts and electric? Don't forget that they will need water and shelter, too.
You could also tether them out and move them everyday, but then you still have the water/shelter problem.....
Maybe you could use dog houses?
The livestock panels sound like too much of a PITA to move around.

I have heard that goats can get tangled up in electric fencing, is there a style that would be best? I am also thinking about goats for clearing about 2 acres of blackberries and dog fennel.

I would ask around or do some googling for herds of weed eating goats, some people have like hundred and their own fencing and can get a huge weed infestation gone in a couple of hours.
