Goat Pen

I need to bulid a new goat pen, i am not planing on staying where im at for a while so a barn is out of the question. How large should a pen be for 6 does? Im looking to have something thats not too expensive as i dont have alot of money. Pictures would be great! and ideas for shelters too please!

Well, my plan is to build a pen out of free pallets. I haven't done it yet, though.

What about making a electrc fence? That way you can move it around as well??

I have never tried but does elec work for goats??

As for a shelter, you can make something pretty easy out of pallets, or a old truck canopy mabey lifed up on some blocks??

Another thing I have not tried but I have seen done is putting the goats on tethers, just drive straks into the ground and tether the goat, that is cheap and easy to move around, then give each a dog house???

Pallets will work for a goat pen, if you can make it taller, as they can easily jump out of a pallet pen (even small does -- pallets are only about four feet square, more or less). Cattle panels are better, if you can afford them.

The cattle panel shelters do work, but if you get much snow in the winter, you need to make sure there's a center support to keep the roof from collapsing under the snow load. Also, try to fix it some way so the goats can't get up on top of the thing. They are hard on the tarps, and also will bow the cattle panels and make the roof sag in.
