what kind of bottles do you feed with?
I am curious as to what kind of bottles you all bottle feed with. I have yet to run across glass bottles that I like. Back in the day, we used glass perriea (sp)
(fancy water lol) bottles. Right now i am feeding with 20 oz. plastic soda bottles. I am throwing them away once a week and getting new ones. I would really like to find glass bottles. They are easier to clean and sterilize. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hmm, I bought bottles from the Dollar Store. They hold 9 ounces. I wash them in the sink, don't have a dishwasher here.

We use 12 ounce coke bottles for the young ones.
Then they graduate to glass wine bottles (all my friends who drink white wine know to save bottles for me!) and throw them away from time to time.
Big graduation is to the lambar bucket. 6 at a time - ahhhh, that's the way to go!

I use 20 oz pop bottles and just replace them when they get nasty. I can usually find some in the trash containers at the gas station.

I have been very happy with my 16 oz glass vinegar bottles. I might have to go up in size though. Wine bottles - hmm - I might have to start cleaning one of those out tonight. . .Thanks for the idea!

I buy the Jones soda or IBC rootbeer in the glass bottles and use them. The nipples slip over the top really well.

Beer bottles work well for small bottles (corona uses clear bottles), wine bottles for larger. If you don't generate any clear bottles yourself, a local bar will likely have a few empty corona bottles and be more than happy to give them to you. Friends or restaurants are good sources for wine bottles.

And I thought I was frugal! Geez! Go get some clear beer and wine bottles from a bar/pub/sportsbar/restaurant. They're just as free and, so long as you don't drop them, they will last forever. More importantly, they can be sterilized... not so with trash-can pop bottles covered in the spit of who-the-heck-knows.

Wine cooler bottles are clear, and I found I like the shape of the Bartles and James bottle. I think it is easier to hold upside down than the beer bottles I used last year. I don't like wine, so sparkling cider bottles work when moving up to bigger bottles.

I'm currently using plastic lamb bottles I got through Hoegger, but next kidding season will be using glass soda bottles. Hopefully by then, I can get a new dishwasher. Right now I wash them in the hottest water that comes from the spiggot then dip them in a disinfectant that is food safe.

We live in upsate Pa near the Finger Lakes of NY and the Bully Hill winery. check them out..great wine and have a goat "theme"..anyways..I get the little 4 pack of wine and use those little bottles ( with the picute of the goat on it)with the lamb nipples. But..sometimes I will use a regular baby bottle with that nipple for a little kid that is having a time getting started on a bottle. Mostly just let Momma goat take care of her little one but on occ. need to step in and help when there is a week kid or triplets born. Of course buying the Bully Hill Goat Wine is a good excuse to also drink their wine. !!! ( a bottle for the little kid and one for me !!) Hmmm...the country life !!

I start newborns on Pritchard nipples on glass bottles (I think the bottles came with water in them, can't remember for sure). I tried plastic pop bottles and the black rubber nipples that pull on, but they leaked badly (look at the threads on a pop bottle and you'll see why -- they don't have continuous threading). Babies graduate from the Pritchard nipples to calf bottles with red rubber lamb nipples at about one to two weeks old. I hand wash everything now, because our dishwasher quit (again) and is just being used to store milking equipment and jars.
