Cervix, anyone?

Could someone tell me (or give me a link to a diagram) what the cervix on a goat feels like?

I expected a cheerio, but felt a nodule instead lol.

Well... open or closed? lol

I have only ever felt open (because I have had no reason to go in when it wasn't open). And open doesn't feel like anything at all, just a continuation of the birth canal into the uterus. What I mostly feel is the narrowest point of the pelvis and not a lot else.

It looks and feels more puckered than a cheerio. I am sorry to say this, but it is far more similar in appearance to a small anus than it is to anything like a cheerio.

It was closed: I bet the nodule I felt was the puckered flesh. I had gone in because she is not doing very well (I have another thread about that), and I had hoped she was going to deliver very soon. Her vulva is very large today, although it doesn't look swollen or irritated (and I had only put one finger in to check) so hopefully tonight is the night for her.

I have visualized the cervix when doing AI. I have heard it described as looking like a pair of "pursed lips."
