Mansons story

so it finaly happed, Yasmine finaly kidded. She did it about 8pm last night. I was home all day yesterday because i felt like she was going to kid. Well arond 7 i was a little restless so i went outside and saddled up my horse to go for a ride. While i was out my mom called, i almost didnt awnser becasue i dont enjoy talking while im out riding, thats my personal time i awnsered and my mom said "uhh i think your goats having a baby" then hung up. I galloped home , i jumed off my horse and when i got there all my moms belly dance friend were out back taking pictures, i managed to shoo them out of the yard and got down to business. she had a hoof and nose sticking out. The bag had alread poped and i couldnt find the other hoof. I called my mentor she said to try and get it out that way. She was screaming bloody muder.
I started pulling, it was seriously stuck.I told her to push and i sware she looked at me and said" f*** you!* because after that she floped her head down into a bucket, lol! I had my mom help me flip her upside down( the pelivc opening is wider that way) and pulled. He slid right out with eyes open and toung sticking out. I got yas some water and helped her clean him off. Took him inside diped his cord, nutradrinched him stuck him in a wad of old towels and put him in the bath tub till i could take time to finish cleaning and feeding him. went back outside because i thought yas was going to have another one because she was so big still. Waited for a while, did an enternal sweep after i tried to bump her and thought i felt something. Nothing, so i put her on the stand and milked her. Gave her nutradrench and set her up in a comfy spot. Went back inside to take care of baby boy. I fed him and warmed him up under the blow dryer. Set up the dog crate and put him in there to go to bed and warm up.
Yep, all went pretty well. She passed her after birth, i let her snack on it a bit then went and picked it up. Baby was fed about 10pm last night and then 6 this morning. I put him back outside today cause its warmer than last night. His mom thinks im her baby and shes not really sure what he is. I held her and showed him where the teat was, he nursed a bit then layed down in the hay. His auntie tried to beat the crap outa him though so i put her in a diffrent area. Yasmine is an amazing milker already! she dosent kick and no feet in the bucket! im going to save some of her colostorum because shes got so much of it, especialy when she olny has one kid.
We are expecting babys from his auntie (Tess) any day now, so the waiting game starts again
Pics to be posted when i get home from school.
I hope i did everything allright!!
I think he has a name, it might change depending on your guys openions, i named him Manson, like Marilyn Manson, one of my favorite singers
edit! hes a pig! he trys to suck even when his belly looks like its gona pop!

I can't believe it, really I'll have to see Pictures. Manson is a cute name too I think! Congratulations!! You beat me, still can't believe it.

I have 1 question though? Why did you give the newborn kid nutradrench? I always think that is way to young for anything other than colostrum or milk.
Do you always do this or is this your 1st kidding?

I wondered that too Katie. I never heard of someone doing that to a kid just born. I cant even get them to want colostrum that fast.

But yes... time for pictures!!

I was allways told to give the nutradrench, are ya not suposed to do that? Sorry your gona have to wait a few more hours till pics, im still at school and Backfourty, you may win with my other doe, she was bred at the same time as Yasmine, but she dosent look ready yet, so you could beat her
I also forgot to add that yasmine got wormed right after kidding too

also this lil guy is mostly black with a white belly and legs, with some tan spots, he will be for sale at weaning age. If his mother is a recorded grade but daddy is pure bred can he be registered?
one more question, how much bo-se? do you give yours on first day born?

I wouldn't give a newborn kid anything by mouth other than mom's colostrum & her milk especially at that age. He shouldn't need Nutra drench cause he's getting everything he needs from the momma.
Everyone's different & does different things just couldn't remeber but I thought you said this was your 1st kidding at your place so I wasn't sure if that's what you always did or someone told you to give the kids nutra drench.

If you put your hand in past the cervix, mama is seriously going to need antibiotics!

If she goes off feed, and has a temp., do not delay! I use Bio-Mycin (tetracycline) when I have to go in past the cervix with my hand- 12ml sub-cue -yes, that's a wallop!- and 12ml into (no needle) the vagina as far as the syringe barrel will go.

Yes, this is a matter of life or death- uterine infection can kill them quick! Best to do it before symptoms occur.

Nutridrench for a new born....hmmm. Never heard of that! Probably won't be trying it out either.

Congrats.
I was hoping to beat you. Looks like she kept that one plenty long though. What was the weight of that kid?

ALWAYS give Nutridrench right away. Thats what its made for. I give it to 50 plus lambs and half a dozens kids a year. Most of them get it before thier even dried off. Give them a big boost of energy to get them going.

MJFarms-I'm still on the learning curve...I have heard people giving BO-se shot but not Nutidrench. Glad it works for you.
do it...don't do it...its so confusing!

8 lbs...ouch! You've been feeding her to good:1pig:
Now you have that cute guy to play with for a while. And the wethers are always so friendly. I didn't see any ears...birth defect (kidding) Maybe someone will need a pet.

Nothing happening here, but soon. I will have a Saanen/Alpine....gee I wonder what color it will be. LOL.

Pam
