Poor baby

I went out to check on my little Nubian doelings this morning, and my newest one,9 wks, has two chunks missing out of the tip of her ear. Looks like a dog bite. I'm so mad I could scream. I have already removed 7 dogs from my property since October. The doeling is in a chain link pen right now. The only way that I can imagine this could have happened is that her ear went through the pen while she was sleeping.

The wounds are closed, so I just cleaned them gently and gave her a good dose of Penicillin. I can't wait to have my fencing up. I'm doing this later this week if the weather holds. I'm also looking at buying a rifle. The only problem is, I didn't hear any commotion. The pens are behind the house and my bedroom is in the front of the house.

I think you need a LGD of your own!
Poor Baby. I know how frustrating neighbors dogs can be. I have had trouble with them chasing my chickens.

It could be from another goat. That happened a number of times with older does picking on the newborn and still-clueless kids.

They are nowhere near the adult goats, so I know that's not what happened.

I am getting ready to start running my 9 strand high-tensile electric fence around the whole property. The goats will then have pens within that fence, as will all my other animals.
