Kid questions

Two are mine and one is for a lady I know.

The new buckling and the doeling were vaccinated with CD&T the day I picked them up. I told her not to bother as I have a different schedule but she did. Anyway she shoots them were their legs meet their bodies and uses the CD&T that I hate since it gave alot of my goats lumps. I feel a tiny one were the girl got the shot but the boy has a larger one that has not gone down at all. I want to drain it or should I leave it?

Probably a stupid question but here goes:
I banded an older boy a few weeks ago, they are shrunken and dead. Yet I have a doe in heat and I have seen him remove his penis and use it. There is no possible way for him to have retained any semen correct?

A lady I know who has had many issues in the past, has a new one. She had a kid born weak in the legs, bad diaherra, something is going on with his eyes. I told her that I would give her Bo-Se, cocci meds, and probios. Well she brough him when I met with her to give the stuff to her. His poop is very runny, almost like it has mucus in it. His nose is clear, his eyes are shiny and dark, they look black instead of the usual gold but he seems to see. I gave him the Bo-Se and probios and I told her how to use the Corid. She will not take him to the vet and will not lower what he is eating. I did get her to this time use whole cow's milk instead of replacer, by reminding her that she killed a kid with it last time. Anything else I should give her for him?

Georgia, such a newbie as I am I hesitate to respond, but: If the doeling were mine, I'd open a capsule of 400 IU vitimen E and put the jell in her mouth; inject a fortified vitimin B shot 2cc; and a squirt of NutrDrench.

Naw, if he unslung it and shot, it wouldn't have had semen in there with the bands on the little prunes.

What do you use instead of the CD&T?
Paul

The lumps should be sterile if she used a clean needle. Some vaccine manufacturers add irritants so the less responsive immune systems will be attracted to the vaccine site. I would leave them alone, unless you are going to show.

It's not abnormal for weathers or even does to court and ride does in heat. But a new weather with dead tesicles should not have viable sperm. Any sperm that may have been in the penis or vas deferens would have been killed by body heat.

No idea on the buckling, sorry.

Paul I do use CD&T but from Colorado Serum. No lumps with that, but with Bar-Vac I think it is called they get lumps that last for weeks to months. I never use that brand on my goats anymore, some did get lumps if I did not rub at it for quite a while, none though as large as his is.

Some of my wethers do hump the girls when in heat but none actually take it out and use it. He was actually "going to town" with it inserted into the doe. Sorry to be graphic. They are prunes at this point but I have not seen a wether do anything like this.

I don't have any answers for you, but I do have a question. You mentioned your friend killed her kid with replacer. Just wondering what happened, since thats what I'm feeding mine. Should I switch to whole milk from the grocery store?

Yes whole cow's milk from the store is better, but switch them over slowly. Like 3/4 quaters replacer with 1/4 whole milk and then half and half, etc till they are changed over.
She was feeding them replacer plus over feeding them since she said they were always hungry. He came down with bloat and I told her how to fix it but she waited too long and it turned into entero and he died.

Do you know if it would hurt the quality of the milk if I froze it? I don't get to town but every 2 or 3 weeks. And maybe once a month to a larger town where it would be cheaper.
