Care after C-Section?

One of my does had an emergency c-section Thursday; this is a first for me.

*How do I care for her?
*I am setting up a separate pen, how long before she can go in with the rest of the herd?
*Can the babies stay with her? Will she be able to nurse them?

I pick her up from the vet today and will ask him the same, and more, questions, Just wanted to know if anyone here has had experience with this.

Thank you.

I ket mine separate for about a week and then let her and babies out with the others. When the time came for stitches to come out I took them out after 12 days. The vet said 10 but I gave it a extra 2 days. No problems and I kept furall on it to keep the flies off as itwas May when she had hers.

We had a doe go into early labor/abort last year, and she eventually required a c-section after she was running around for 24 hours after her water broke.
The vet did it at our farm. He did not remove the placenta, nor did he give her anything to force herself to clean on her own. We were not aware of this. He also did not give us any pain medication for the doe, nor any instructions at all.
We kept her separated from the rest of the herd, going out periodically to force her to stand. Two days later, without any improvements, we call him, and he gave us banamine for the pain. Nothing else. A half hour later after her injection of banamine, she was dead. Another vet did an autopsy and concluded that she had a severe uterine infection, leading to her death.
Just make sure she passed her placenta, manage her pain, and question the vet on antibiotics. Don't let this happen to you.

She came home yesterday and looks surprisingly good. I am giving her 3 ml Penicillin twice a day. She hates the shots, but I would, too.

I have her in a 10'x10' area with a 3'x4' doghouse. She is a nigie and this is roomy cover for her and the two babies without giving her too much space to injure herself.

She can hear the other goats and wants to be with them, but I am keeping her separate until the staples are removed in two weeks. I am afraid the other goats might butt her in the side and cause further damage.

I am so relieved to have her home.

Unless she only weighs 25 pounds your really not giving her any antibiotic.

The dosage for any 300,000 unit penicillin is 3cc per 50 pounds given subq twice a day. The vet didn't give you any banamine for pain? Vicki
