My goat is here...with babies (pics)

I posted last week about getting a bred nanny from my brother. I went to pic her up yesterday and came home with a new momma with week old kids instead! They are the sweetest things!!!

Congratulations. Are the babies girls or boys?

A buckling named Smokey and a doeling named Bandit.

I milked her out a little bit tonight, only about a pint. The babies stay with her 24/7, and i was afraid of taking too much at first. I am feeding her all the grass hay she wants along with about 1 lb of goat ration with 16% protien. Will her milk production pick up if I keep taking a small amount every day?

S & B are so adorable. You might consider slowing increasing her feed, perhaps to at least one pound per kid per day. As Slave said, she also need alfafa or perennial peanut hay.
You sure got some cute ones. Paul

I milked her again tonight and got 1 quart of milk. I haven't taken the babies away. I am currently searching for some alfalfa hay. She seems more interested in a bale of straw that I have next to the wall than the grass hay.

Anyone that takes the young away...how much milk will a Nubian/Alpine cross produce daily? I had originally thought she was crossed with a Lamancha but was told tonight it was Alpine.
