Treatment not working

At 12 days old a buckling all of a sudden came up with a little bit of goopy eye that swelled shut.
I think he must have gotten butted because there IS swelling around the eye and it looks bruised around the area.
He is a pretty active little fellow jumping around, nurses well etc.
He has had about a week of terramycin eye ointment 3 & 4 times daily but no improvement except that there isnt any more goo or tearing.
Im pretty sure it is not entropian with it coming on all of a sudden.
He is now 17 days old.
Should he be switched to a 5 day regime of Pen G? I also have Biomycin on hand. Thanks all.

Is there any chance that there might be something stuck in his eye that is keeping the swelling from going down. I wonder if a good flush of saline is in order. I only have experience with this with horses. All of a sudden my horse's eye was all swollen and almost completely shut. It looked horrible. I just kept flushing saline and it got better real fast.

If you want to do systemic antibiotics, I'd go with Biomycin. That's what I use for eye infections.

Soo Goatkid, you mean SQ or just topical treatments in the eye? I have done a few drops Pen G in funky eyes.
He did get flushed with saline solution and warn washcloth before the terramcin.

was this buckling recently disbudded?
does he has a fever? still eating and playing?
if we get a bruise, we do not take antibiotics
if it is not an inverted eyelid which sometimes is not easy to see because of the swelling (even that doesn't need antibiotic but surgical correction) it will go away in time

I would get a stronger opthalmic antibiotic from your vet.
Last year I had 2 different kids get a little infection in 1 eye & I used Gentamicin Sulfate Opthalmic solution from the vet. Actually it is the same stuff he gave me for my dog before when she scrated her eye.
I'm assuming those kids last year scratched there eye too.
It doesn't take much to get an infection in an eye.
