Dehorning kids question

Due any day - can you tell me how many days do we disbud the kids? Have an iron bought last year, this is the first year doing it ourselves . Also, when friends did it, they sprayed on Bluecote, can I use iodine? have 7% and 1! here, no sense in buying something if I can use what is on hand. What do you use? Thanks!
Teri

We were told not to put anything on the disbudding burns as it kept them from drying and could set up infection. The girls didn't appear to be bothered after they were let out of the box.

If you are going to put something on hornbuds after burning put on something that dries well. The reason for spraying with something aresol is that it dries the wound and cools it instantly.

Do not goop up burns with salves and creams, underneath that salve and cream is the perfect place (warm and moist) to grow staph. Vicki
