6 in an igloo(pic)

I asked my DH to pick up a small igloo for the new doelings to keep warm in. I had no idea that they made igloo's for cats! All six doelings are piled in there - they are definitely warm.

That is just too cute. In a week they won't all fit in there.

It is a hard freeze tonight! It will be about 25 in the morning. We are still floridians! It is a damp cold plus it was blowing 30 the other day - everyone was shivering!

I raise racing thoroughbreds who are all blanketed out in the fields. Guess who is in the barn? Yup - all of my goaties and my shetlands - easier to put in the barn than to put blankets on.

Luckily in a week it should be to warm for them to use the igloo.

LOL I have one of those medium dog igloos. I have a picture somewhere of my yearling nubian does in there... The caption reads, how many yearlings fit in a medium igloo? The answer 4. I have no idea how they did it, it was like they were playing goat twister.

LOL! What a cute pic! I have a few large doghouses, and the kids just LOVE them. They love to be IN them, and they love to be ON them.

I agree that florida at 25 is colder than else where at 25. I just moved to MD from there so I speak first hand! It is so damp in FL it really chills you to the bone. I moved here in January and I don't think we got out of the 20's the whole month! It didn't feel nearly as bad as 40 in Florida! Even when my mom came to visit she kept asking me how cold it was. When I told her it was below freezing, she kept saying "no way, are you sure?" All my neighbors seem to pretty much hole up for the winter here. I am the crazy Floridian playing in the snow and sliding on the ice with the baby goats through the field

I know someone that has had a Full grown Oberhasli buck and a nigerian buck wedge themselves in the bigger igoo. The bottom was on and it was all she could do to get them out. They got in but couldn't get out.

We had a Lamancha doe that would sleep in a small dog house. (doe was about 120-130 pounds). She would be sleeping with head out. So would have had to have crawled in and turned around which would not have been easy.

We place our igloos like that over top of the Mama Hen and her babies at night, when they settle outside the coop, without cover, in the yard. They totally come in handy!

Wonderful idea about using it for Mama hen. I use my 50 lb. tubs from my horses daily wormer placed in a rack for laying boxes and for Mama hen on the ground. Igloo is a better idea.

yeah, super easy! and you can move it around as needed so the ground under them doesn't get dirty, if they stay in one place for more than a few days. Ours lived inside one for weeks when we had a freak early November snow storm.

Neat pic.

I have a 200 +/- pound alpine wether who squished himself into one of those big blue plastic barrels once. It was raining (surprise squall) and he was in a pen without shelter from the rain ... I came home and couldn't find him until he maa'd at me from inside the barrel. I thought he'd jumped out of the pen and found somewhere else to hide!

I was not able to see the picture, but please EveryOne remember that they can smother when they pile into a warm spot.
We love the dogloos too, but we don't have many babies to a pen.
