TWINS: A buckling and a doeling I THINK

I woke up and looked out the window this morning at 7:00; and there was Maggie with a little black thing, I thought it was our cat as it is black, well it wasn't a cat. I went out to look at it better and it is all black except; for one leg that has a splash of white, while out there I heard a MAA, it did not come from the little black kid so I looked around and behold there was another one, this one is all white. I am pretty sure that I have one of each; the white one has two flaps of skin on it's neck and I do not see any extra holes on it's bottom that would make me think its a girl. I'll take pictures and post them later; they seem to be eating OK. I think that black one was born first as it is steadier on its feet than the white one.

Yes! this was the doe from the Figured out my doe is pregnant, So Now What? thread. This was a surprise as I figured I had at least another month. I was not prepared other than the stuff to dip navels with. I have confirmed after looking again just moments ago, that I do have a buck and a doe. They seem to be doing well; and the weather was nice today, but it is supposed to get nasty tomorrow and Sunday. My house and yard is FULL of babies; I had kittens born in Jan, the goats today and Sunday my incubator is supposed to start hatching baby chickens.

I JUST LOVE HAVING ANIMALS AROUND!!!!!!!

Baby girls squat to pee and have a vagina just like you.
Little boys stand to pee and have testicles and penis just like men. The penis is right after their umbilical cord. Vicki

I am so glad it went well too; I am beyond surprised that it happened today, but at least the wait is over. Thank you for the congrats, now comes the naming as I can't stand not having names for our animals.

I guess she was pregnant. Your little girl with the doeling is just precious. She has the same kind of hair cut my GD had to start kindergarten.

Chris,

The kid in the picture with my youngest is a buckling; and we seem to be having issues with him. I know I saw him eat this morning(not sure how much) but I haven't seen him nurse since and I can't get mommy to stand still long enough to try and help him. He does get in the right spot to nurse; but that is about all. I have been looking at the newborn care section but I DO NOT have anything to bottle feed him with.

What sweet little babies. All 3 of them. Love the one of the white kid kissing your daughter.

Kat, they don't nurse for very long at a time. Feel his belly -- if it feels gaunt then he's not eating. If it feels full, and he's warm, he's getting enough to eat. Usually if they aren't eating, they'll be cold, and may stand hunched up; they won't be active. Well-fed babies will be active (except when they are napping) and will already be starting to try to 'play.'

Do you have wormer for the doe? That needs to be taken care of as soon as possible.

Kathleen

I agree with all the above..
He may be nursing more than you think. Check his tummy.Did he get too cold before you found them. If he is cold it helps to get them all warmed up then they seem to be more intrested in eating.I have used a hair dryer or the heater in house before. It is frustrating to try and get them to nurse they get just to the right spot and mom moves. If you have to bottle feed get the pritchard teat. It is a red nipple with a yellow collar and goes on a pop bottle.I have found them at tractor supply.I also use whole cows milk if I have to. It is better if you can get him nursing soon so he gets the colostrum he needs.

Well, I think you should name the black one with the white foot Slipper
And for some reason that makes me think of Cinderella so maybe you could name the white buckling Prince Charming

I didn't feel his stomach; but from what I can remember it wasn't full but it wasn't that empty feeling either. I do know that he does some time look like he is shivering, but it doesn't last long and he feels fairly warm just like his sister and he also seems to have an issue with pooping, it almost sounds like he is having to strain and not much comes out, again not like his sister. I have added more hay to the shelter they are in and I do plan on going to tractor supply and or my local feed store and get some milk supplement just in case I have to bottle feed him. I did get my husband to help me hold mommy; and I milked some out of her, got about 2 maybe three ounces down him. I do not think he knows how to nurse, as he never tried to suck on the syringe I was using. I do have a dewormer; I dewormed her once when I first got her, this was back before I knew she was pregnant. She is the only goat I currently have, other than the babies.

My 6 1/2 year old wants to call the white one Snowman and the Black one Blackberry.
