Question Q: Do bucklings have teats?

We just discovered that our 2 1/2 week old buckling has teats. Is this normal? I've never noticed any on our adult buck and I can't find any information on this in my books. My daughter is devastated because she's afraid he'll have to have an operation or be put down. I told her I'm sure he'll be just fine, as he's perfectly healthy. Any help/words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

This buckling is the firstborn out of my Toggenburg/Nubian doe, by my Nubian buck (neither have had any other kids). All of his "male" parts are normal.

Yep, they have teats on either side of their testes. Just make sure it's two.

Oh I feel so silly now! Yes, he has one on each side. Thanks so much for clearing that up for me.

Look at the "Can you see them" thread on the pig forum.

Don't feel bad. I was actually very worried when I discovered that our first buck had them. How would you know?

Male horses are the only male mammals that don't have teats. I didn't know that! I googled.
