Birthing question

Queeny had some goo earlier today, and i've been watching her pretty closely, now she has a string of red hanging to the ground, i've been you-tubing and found one video that showed this and the man said it was drainage, he didn't seem to worried about it, my question is it something to worry about, and if not, about how long before i should be having little one? i'm as anxious as a long tailed cat in a room full of rockin chairs...do i need to stay up tonight and keep a close eye on her?

Check her ligaments. at the point where her hips meet her back you will feel the spine. Place your fingers in the shape of a "C" around the bony portion of the spinal column leading down to the tail. Follow the bones from the point down to the tail.

Did you feel two pencils about half way down or a little lower? (I must admit my stupidity here I thought that they were bones, those "bones" are her ligaments.) The Ligs will soften as she gets closer.

Eventually they will get softer and flex some as you feel them and later shortly before birth they will completely disappear.

Keep checking her ligs every morning and night and eventually you will feel the difference. Some doe's ligs go hours before birth, and some a few days.

I would stay with her and watch her if it was me.
Sounds like you should have a baby tonight or tomorrow.
Is this her first? Sometimes those take longer.

edited to add:
you should take note if she is full of milk or not, or "bagged up" That will tell you a lot too. They get full before the birth, from days before on some, and I have one that bags up almost the night before!

well, she looks like she is bagging up to me! But I am no expert. If I were you I would just watch from a distance. She may not have any problems. If she doesn't feel comfortable coming to you, then I wouldn't stress her out once she is in labor.
IF things get where she needs your help, she should be fairly compliant, but you may need someone to help hold her.

When I was on baby patrol, I checked at least every 2 hours. I did this for 6 weeks and then FINALLY! Hopefully you will only have to do it one night

Other things to watch for:

pawing the ground
"talking" to her belly (they sorta turn like they are going to scratch and make sweet little noises)
getting up/down
walking in circles...

Most of mine will go to the stall when in labor (except that little first freshener I found running across the woods hollaring with baby presenting!)

That goat looks like she is part or all Pygmy. If she cannot birth the kids herself, (let her labor and push for at least half an hour in hard labor, laying on the ground straining and pushing), be prepared for the idea that she may need a vet. Pygmies do not always birth easily.

ya we tried one of those but the barn was just a little too far away for it to work. I got used to sleeping with my clothes on. She ended up not even haiving them in the middle of the night...6:30pm
Do you have a due date?

she has been doing exactly what you posed mamajohnson....all evening up down up down, and the talking, and i seen paw marks on the ground where she was laying when i checked about an hour ago i'll be keeping my fingers crossed for an uneventful birth...the last was, to my horror...terrible, and lost both of Baby's kids on Christmas night i'm hoping for a better outcome

Saw the picture of the kid on the other thread, the mom on this one sure is pretty. Not too up on my smaller breeds, is she Nigi or Pygmy.
