White discharge in term first freshener (soon?)
I have a first freshener that we have been watching for weeks (I thought she was going to deliver at her first due date 3 weeks ago). She is now term for her second due date. She seems completely fine, normal, eating, but has a thick white discharge (a very good amount). Her udder is very full (been full for 3 weeks but has gotten even tighter). I am thinking labor will be soon. We have something to go to tonight between 4:00 and 9:30. If we check her this afternoon and she seems fine, will she hold out until tomorrow morning do you think? We've been watching her so long, it seems like she is never going to deliver and will pregnant forever, so my inclination is that she'll be fine but I do want to pull kids at birth. I've had a hard time feeling her ligaments for a week, my daughter feels like they are still there but I can't feel them, so the jury is out!
I'm sure it's a goat to goat thing but any help on when a first freshener looses their plug would be great (in relation to labor).

It sounds like she is losing her mucous plug. That can happen several weeks before kidding.
With the combination of her tighter, larger udder, the timing of the possible due dates, and the fact that you have somewhere else to be tonight but want to be there to pull kids, I'd say she is going to deliver as soon as you are far enough away to not make it back in time!
If pulling kids is really important to you or you are concerned for her ability to deliver on her own, best not go anywhere. Or, consider paying a friend to babysit her for the evening.

I am sure she will! Darn her. More then anything I wanted to pull at birth just to make the transition easier for her and babies. My husband will be here but bless his heart he won't be able to do much. I could drive as fast as the speed limit allows and be home in about 40 minutes though if he called.
She had a clear discharge weeks ago but this is a really thick creamy white, no blood streaks though. I suppose I will just keep checking her. Now I see why doctors induce pregnant women How annoying this whole process is.

So, did she sneak them out while you were gone?

I am home early because my husband said he'd drive BACK to town to pick our girls up from their dance (they are doing a Civil War Dancing workshop). I really didn't do it for the goat but because I was tired and just didn't feel like being in town for 3 hours. I am getting some cloths on to go down and check her now! I am pretty sure this goat just plans to raise the kids in-utero and won't actually be ever giving birth

Yep, I went to check her, she was bedded down for the night, happily chewing her cud.

MorningStar, I hope that your camera is packed in the bag to take to the delivery room.

Don't worry; she'll kid when you are in the house getting coffee, or throwing a load of laundry in the wash, or using the bathroom, or checking this thread. It's a gift they all have. Good luck!

Hi,
This is Morning star's daughter Marisa. I just went and checked on her and she is still the same, but no more discharge. Her mom was the same way, she was 7 days late last time. We had her locked up in a kidding stall for 5 days on and off, and the one day we let her out she had them in the field!
Her last possible due date is the 17th (tomorrow). She looks so ready, she dropped the kids (last week), she is also so sunken in around the tail head, I have been able to put my whole hand around it for about a week or 2, and her vulva is huge. So I guess we wait.
I will try and get pictures of her when we feed this afternoon to post.
Let the waiting begin!
~Marisa~
