How old before goats start to eat hay or other solid food ?

If it is available, kids will start nibbling almost right away. Pretty soon they are eating solids quite well. I have week old kids who are already chewing on alfalfa hay.

Goats sure love to eat, no matter the age....Sucking on hay under a week, grains under two weeks....Nothing in real quanity, more or less experimenting...Topside

I wondered I thought I seen one eating hay but thought no but could have been.

They nibble at things, but cant really survive on just solid foods until 6-8 weeks old
