Thoughts on the the Ca:P ratio?

I stopped giving my wethers grain after their first birthday. They don't need it and I don't want to risk UC. Right now, they have the usual free choice minerals, baking soda, and water with a really nice orchardgrass hay (with a smattering of timothy in it).

In my research, it seems that orchardgrass hay has a Ca:P of 1.5:1 to 1:1. I've been thinking about adding a bit of alfalfa hay or pellets to increase the ratio closer to 2:1. That said, I don't know how much to add. Any thoughts?

Carolyn Eddy has a great book about raising wethers, for packing. It goes all into the UC issues and feeding plans of various packers. Great book. Unfortunately I cannot find it right now to give you the answer.

I would say 1-2 lbs per day should be enough. I think alfalfa has a 6:1 ratio?
