Puppy dog ears on my Nigie baby

I had a Nigerian Dwarf doeling born yesterday and she has the oddest ears! They do not stand up, they are hanging down like a puppy (or a Nubian!).

Give her a couple of days - I'm sure they'll pop up to where they should be!

OK, I'm going to tell on myself, and I'm super-embarrassed.

Last night, I went down to check the preggo/doe shed and I found a new kid, half cleaned, half froze. I grabbed the kid, who was hollering, and Princess followed me half-way up to the house, hollering the entire way. I knew I had to warm this kid up. Of course I assumed it was Princess' kid. Poor baby was soo cold...... Fed the kid, warmed her up, and put her in with the other 3 bottle babies. Checked on Princess, she is bagged up, no discharge, figured she had the kid earlier in the day.

Wasn't until after I posted this that it occured to me that this kid looks just like Emily. Emily is a mixed-breed doe that I adopted, 4 years old, never bred, FLOPPY ears. Guess what ~ this is her kid, looks exactly like here, floppy ears and all.

I must be the worst goat herder there ever was . I work 2 jobs, I am so overwhelmed, but goodness I feel like a dope!

I think that was a mistake that could easily happen with a lot of goats and 2 jobs!! Not dopey at all...thank goodness you were able to save the kid

Thanks for being so understanding. I feel terrible. How could I get so mixed up? I love my goats, and I feel awful. I did not know Emily was bred.

What a surprise for you! I've adopted supposedly unbred goats before, and went out one morning to discover little surprises. LOL! At least now your mystery is cleared up. I hope the little one does well for you.

Um, you were worried about saving the kid, and realized you had to warm it up. Princess wanting to adopt it made you assume she was the mom. Not dopey at all, You focused your attention where it should have been at the time. Good job. Tell Princess she's just gonna have to wait.
Pictures?

It's not your fault, it's PRINCESS that is to blame, lol! If she hadn't tried adopting the kid, you would have been looking for a momma to go with the kid.
