? for the spinners....

I have noticed that toggenburgs get really hairy sometimes. Can their hair be spun or used as a fiber to do things with?

Ummm...you want really soft fibers for spinning with no kemp (short rough hair)....I've never felt a Togg before so I can't give you a definitive answer...is their fleece soft? You need a good 3 inches for spinning. Hope that helps. I have spun some Pyr (dog hair) and mixed it with wool and mohair. It was still really scratchy even though when you pet a Pyr it is soft.

Talking

The undercoat that goats sometimes grow is cashmere. That is very spinnable. We get an ounce or two off of each of our fainters, more on the 'cashmere' type lines. The guard hairs - NASSTTYYY.

Honestly, you can spin ANYTHING, it's just whether you'd WANT to or not ;-)
