Cute pic of my goats
New here and just thought i'd share some pics of my goats.
meet LJJ's Bethanie or Behtanie. she was born 2-19-08 and is registered 88% boer.
Next is BSBG Voodoo Lady or Voodoo. Born 4-4-08 and is 98.4%.
This is my boer buck. Registration pending but probably CF Good Intentions aka Tonka. His sire was Dozer. Born 3-08. Fullblood.
Last but not least is Donder aka Victory Meadows ANH Donder. Born 12-23-07. Purebred Nubian. Goldthwaite bloodlines.
So there's the whole gang. Just thought i'd introduce them.

Lonesome Doe is my herdname of 22 years. It is a registered ADGA herdname a .com and is copywrited. I show, appraise and run a business underneath the name. Surely you can relog back in with a new name? Since you want to show Nubians, and nearly all shows are ADGA sanctioned certainly you would want to have your own herdname. Vicki

I love it when they ham up like that. You are almost waiting for them to open their mouth and say something! Welcome to the group!

I thought a complement on her fine looking animals and a welcome was the way to start out and then bring up the name thing. But she wasn't nasty just way too blunt IMHO.

And so how is your continuing to post and not PMing me any different? I wanted to nip it in the bud, I did and it's over. They were looking for Nubian does, in reality, in my show circuit, with my herdname? Fast forward your business 22 years, wouldn't it have taken you aback just a little? Thanks for understanding my point of view in this also Beth. Vicki

Just curious...so you own the words lonesome doe in all things- meaning screen names, other peoples farms names, etc?

She never said she owned it, she asked and explained why she asked. It can be read snotty, or it can be read matter of fact. Yea, I would have buffered it a little, but well
When I saw the name, I immediately thought it was Vicki.. but then I realized that lonesome doe wasn't her name on here and I was a bit confused. So I can certainly understand why.

True, but I was in my head combining this response with the one she put in the barter board thread, and it seems that there is a claim to owernship.

I am sure you could name your dog farm Coca Cola and nothing would happen to you for many years unless one of your dogs went on to win at Westminster or something then you would get copywrite infringement papers in the mail.
I think the difference here is that my farm is my business. In 22 years there is one 'story' on the internet about me, which doesn't even invlove my stock. I take my reputation very seriously and it's why I have what I have. I could shut down the internet portion of my business easily and just go with a webstie like most breeders do, I just choose to be more vocal and get folks the help they really need. Being vocal on the internet also makes you a target, so I am very careful when it comes to my name and my business.
I am sure I wouldn't have felt this way either when I was new.
I really just can't explain it any better than that.
But yes, I own the title Lonesome Doe. It is also registered with ADGA, USDA and TAHC. I own a DBA on it also. Sure you can go onto another forum and sign up as anything you want, name your farm anything you want including Lonesome Doe...but if it infringes on my business yes I will take it up with you. Vicki
