Doe sucking her own teat

Has anyone out there ever had a goat that sucks her own teats? I have only owned goats for about 8 months and would appreciate any info I can get. She is a 1 1/2 yr old LaMancha. I had never noticed her doing this until today. What would cause her to do this? IS there anything I can do to prevent her from doing this?

I think they say you can use some teat tape. I am not sure though hope someone comes along with more info. But that way she would not be able to get milk out.

If you use teat tape you need to make sure there are no wrinkles in the teats. I have placed it on 1 side and then down and then up again. Dont fold the teat. Its a bad habit if they get started and not to hard to break. I have had does do this after kidding to remove the plug. Some dont stop and some do. Some do it out of boredom also and just becomes a hanit. Also if the pressure is great when trying to dry up a doe she can start it also.
Some use tape and others use what you call a Elizabethan collar to prevent her from getting to her teats. It looks funny but works also. Some use apple bitters too or something like it they dont like.

you can use paper tape (for humans) but it won't last but a day for a self-sucker.

And make sure you tape it so the teat can expand or you will be making a tape tourniquet that won't be good...

Is this doe pregnant or nursing? I did have a FF do it when she was about 24 hours from kidding. I guess she was so sore that she wanted some relief. .
