Heat/Breeding Question

So, I have a question, well actually a couple questions!
I have my does (ND) in a pen that share a fence line with my bucks (ND). On September 17, (of this year) my little buck squeezed through the fence into the girls. (My brother said I should have named him Houdini because of the places he squeezes through!)- The does were making a lot of noise, so whether it was because they were in heat, or because they didn't want the buck in there? I'm not sure!! I have not figured out their cycles yet (they are relatively new- and this is my first breeding season), and I didn't know then to check their tails or anything. I guess my question about this is, how soon will they get bellys if they are preg? I know I can draw blood and send it in, but I don't know if that's an option right now.

If they are NOT preg. for those of you who have ND's, how obvious are they when they are in heat? I have just started since first of Nov. to really watch... I've been putting the does that I want bred in with the buck, in case they were in heat and I just couldn't tell. My buck is VERY interested, and will try to mount even, but the does want nothing to do with him and will butt him hard. Will the buck be interested if she is not in heat?
Alright, sorry about this big long thread, thanks in advance

You can't tell if they are preggers by looking.

Watch for the tail wagging. My ND is really quiet all the time, no different when she is in heat. The only sign I saw was a ton of tail wagging whenever she would look at the buck.

And I agree- the belly won't tell you, but the udder might. Unfortunately, it could be a few months before that's obvious.
