day 9 of showing the girls a buck rag - nothing!

I got a buck rag to help me figure out heat cycles - but no results so far! No tail wagging, no calling, no real excitement. No sticky hairs. No mounting.

Should buck rags stink? The one I got has a smell to it - but it's not reeky stinky. I rubbed it on my friend's buck who clearly was crustily in rut....

My little doeling wanted to nibble the buck rag tonight - her first real reaction. She likes to mouth any and everything. So not sure that was a heat-related reaction or not.

Any advice?

I do not have my own buck on site - going to go get my stashed buck for 1 doe & take the other for buck service.

I personally put the rag or bandana on the buck for about a week or 2 and then present it to the does...It should really smell well or they dont seem to care. Mine...the better they smell the better they like them.

I never had good luck with buck rags before I got bucks. How old are your girls? Also, you may just not have caught them in estrus yet. They have another at least 10 days to come into heat if they've been cycling. Also, if they're maiden does sometimes it's tough to get a reaction out of them, even in the presence of a buck.
