I finally got back on!

I've have not been able to get on. But now I'm all set! The question I have is.. I picked up some goats this spring, they were loaded with worms. I have since dewormed them with horse ivermectrin. I gave them double dose each 2 times at 10 day intervals. They are gaining weight put slowly. I need to know what I can feed to fatten them up. They get all the hay they want, 2 quarts a grain a day (four 4 goats) with about 1/2 quart of calf mana. I also give them free choice loose minerals. They just seem to be gaining weight back slowly. At least now though they jump and play.

Do you give BOSS(black oil sunflower seed) to them? That is a great way to build fat and the shells are good fiber for them. It can be pricey, but I buy 40# bags and it lasts quite a while for me. Just a warning though--every critter in the world will be in your barn to eat them too, so put them in a galvanized or plastic garbage can. Build them up slowly and adjust your grain accordingly. I don't have the large goats so I don't know what the ration would be. Good luck!

Thanks for the response. No I have never yet tried sunflower seeds but what the heck I'll try it this week. Have to wait till payday! I did grow sunflowers this year for the chickens, waiting on the heads to dry though. Will corn fatten them up?

Well. Be careful with corn. I dont use that much corn for my goats. It just my prefrence. You can use beet pulp. Beet pulp will help them gain weight.
