Pig iron for anemia
I have raised boer goats along with nubians for meat for about 9 years. I have used the pig iron injections for a severly anemic animal or one that shows bottle jaw. I also usually give B vitamin injections as well and have success. It's is a whole lot easier to not let them get to that point. The best way I've found is to do just what everyone says not to, and that is to use injectable ivomec. Inject it even though it may sting a little. It is better for the animal to have a brief period of discomfort than to let them get down with parasite infestation. It takes a long time to recover when they get down parasites especially during the hot summer months. I was completely ignored on the holistic list when I presented this answer to the same question. That person thought it much better for the animal to be wormed over a one week period with three drenches with the injectable. I also pointed out the you handle the animal two more times than necessary with no result in getting the incysted worms. The other part I couldn't understand was in a holistic approach, you should minimize introduction to the chemical.
