aggressive buck

how do you handle a huge boer buck that doesn't want to be handled???

LOL

this guy is around 145 probably more and he has horns that curve around and are sharp...

his owner is a guy, but the goat outweighs him

the goat needs to be wormed and we are looking for suggestions about how to get that done without getting ourselves injured????

thanks Misty

I first thought you meant 145 years old, and I was going to suggest a rifle.

Hmmmm. Run him a trailer. Take him to the vet.

Will he eat Animal crackers from your hand if you are outside the fence? Or Saltines, Ritz? I make a wormer sandwich and the goats eat it before they know what it was. I use the horse paste Ivermectin and they just go nuts for animal crackers.
If he won't come to the fence they toss a few to him and more as he gets closer and then once he really gets into it then you can give him the wormer and you are not in the pen.

You don't.

I used to help boer herds around here, and I don't deal with wild animal, which their bucks alway were, without a run in shute or the money to buy/build them your stuck trying to be smarter than the goats. The problem with this is that sure you can worm or treat, but you can't trim feet or treat injury. A run in shute when you are dealing with wild stock is important otherwise it's simply dangerous. In a non commercial setting this buck should be shot. A 145 pound buck is a yearling here.

Won't help with feet trimming but...Start giving him treats...oatmeal and mollassas balls work really well, then you can put his wormer into them. I do this with my dogs, not that they are wild, but so they catch and fetch treats that actually have their heartworm meds or wormers in them without having to fuss with them. I save the fussing for their nails If you gave him a treat each day, he would not know when you are doing something to the treat. Vicki
