new doeling questions( graphic pictures of a does rear)

OK I got little Jacob(1 month old Boer buckling) a friend . She was given to me because her owner couldn't keep her( I think there's more to it than this). I have no idea what she is but shes 4 months old and fat or possibly bred. She was kept with an intact buckling of unknown parentage. This little doe is supposedly part Boer. How much I have no idea. She is being kept in quarantine to make sure she doesn't have anything Jacob could catch. I have wormed her with Ivermectin, given her a CD/T shot, checked her over for any lumps or bumps that could be abscesses( found none) and took her pictures, given her pro-bios, hay and water. She is not friendly yet but we are working with her. She has also never had her hooves trimmed. Jacob had his done today professionally so I was showed how. I will place the new doe in a stanchion and do hers as soon as I can handle her. She also has horns, where as Jacob does not.

Questions,
What is she?
Is she bred or just fat? She looks to be forming a small udder.

Please forgive her dirty butt, but I was pushing my luck as it was.

She does look like she is growing an udder.
Sad to say she would be probably in her last 2 months of pregnancy and thats places her at 6 months old for the first time. She is too small. There is a good chance she wont be bale to pass a kid, especially if she has a single!

Your going to need a vet on standby when the time comes for a c-section, or be prepared yourself for having to put her down and just hope you can save the kid through an after death emergency c-section.

Oh and any goat can look like yours. Its not fat, its a hay belly.
Skinny goats just having eaten can have nice round hay bellies.

Goats are real good at hiding their kids. But that udder would be the key and its looks like a pg udder.

Does anyone know what she is? I am not sure I can afford a C-section and she and the kids may not live through it. I was told she was a twin so maybe smaller kids. She doesn't feel skinny, just fat. If I bounce her would I be able to tell at this stage?

She's a Heinz 57. If Boer, then crossed with something that has more erect ears. Could be Alpine, could be Saanen, could be another crossbred Heinz 57.

Hmmm, she doesn't have a name other than nanny so maybe I should name her Ketchup or better yet, Pickle. Pregnant at 4 months may have gotten her into a real pickle.

Awe...she sure is cute! I would say some saanen in her...she reminds me of mine. And yes she does look pregnant. Try to think positive and give her good prenatal care....yes she's young, but it can be done

The buck she was with was not very big but that could have been because he was young. I have a boer buckling and he did not look like him, but then a again he did not look like a pygmy either. He just looked like a goat. He was given to someone else.

She is darling! And I don't think she looks fat at all! I wonder how much a c-section would be? I also wonder if there is any way to force a miscarriage. She is just so dang cute it would be so sad to loose her! Please keep us posted

She may miscarry anyway due to the move. She was pretty upset with all the indignities that were done to her and that's putting it mildly.

Must I be the only one to say this. Lute her today and get it over with, (if you don't know what it is, it will make her abort.)

My human feelings aside, you have 2 ways of doing this,
1. Abort her, she lives the kid dies... or better yet she is just storing fat.
2. Let her carry and risk both her & the kid/s dying. You have less then a 50/50 chance with a c-section that both kids & doe lives.

Patty.

Oh so there is a way! Great...I say go for it. What form does "lute" come in? Pill? liquid? Do you have to get it from a vet? Sorry, just curious and learning....

Go to a vet and get an ultrasound. It's not nearly as expensive as a c-section and will give you definite answers to the pregnancy question. In the next few days, shop around for one, and get an appointment for one asap.

If she is pregnant, it's abortion time. If you don't it's likely she'll die a horrible, long, painful death in labor as will any kids she would have. I doubt she was flushed so she probably is carrying a single if she is preggo.

Lute her, and she'll lose the kids but she'll live on to support a healthy pregnancy later on (if this pregnancy doesn't stunt her that is)

This goat does NOT look pregnant to me. I have had doe kids never exposed to a buck with "udders" like that. However, the only way to know for sure is to test. Biotracking (www.biotracking.com) is 90-something % accurate and is very cheap. Cheaper and more accurate than an ultrasound...just have to get the blood and send it in.

Just so you know Lute does not always work. I have a pair of Lute twins right now. My case was different, I knew Mimi a Boer could carry a Nigies baby(ies) but I wanted to wait till she was older and I wanted to use an all black Boer like her. Used Lute 11 days after the buck broke out and 5 months later a pair of cute twins. Thankfully she gave birth at 15 months old.
I have been fooled into thinking goats were pregnant, fooled into thinking they were not pregnant. She really does not seem to have much of a bag.
I thought doelings did not go into their first heat until 4-6 months old? If so she cannot be very pregnant if at all.
If you really are worried I would go for the blood test.
