Goat ate an EGG!

Brat goats... they are free ranging, and I can not keep them out of anything!

So far... they've eaten part of my shed wall, the horses hay (WHY when they have all plants available to them), some insulation from where my husband is building O_O, and they've eaten all the tops and fruit off from my tomato plants! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yesterday... while doing chores, I had my egg basket with me to give some of the older eggs to the dogs, but there was one odd tiny egg that I was saving for my daughter. It was the only egg left in the basket, when I set it down to grab something JUST A QUICK SECOND, and turned around to see my milker with her head in the basket!!!!!!!!! ARG!!!!

She had eaten that egg whole and was munching on it!

Of course I did what any good animal owner would do to correct the problem... I cried!

oh no! I'm sorry you are so frustrated That's how goats are I guess. I let mine free range also, but have been lucky so far. I do have a pen for them when I get sick of keeping an eye on them or they start getting into stuff. Silly goats!

Oh, you poor thing, they are being such stinkers!!! Mine ate and permanently destroyed my dwarf mugo shrubs and if not caught in time, my milkers will drink their own milk if I release them from the stand and don't watch them every second. I have lost several gallons of milk over time, but now have a handle on it. They are just so quick. But here is the topper---- My 16 month old German Shepherd ate a whole habanero pepper plant the other day!!!!!!! I never heard a scream or cry so I guess no just desserts, oh well, she'll live to do it again.

You might want to check out tomato plants and the potential for toxicity in goats. From what I understand, being a member of the nightshade family, they are poisonous to goats.

That's what I've been told but I have never researched it myself. I've always kept my goats out of the garden and my tomato plants.

One would think, huh? But not for this very blessed girl. She seems to have the most incredible luck and its that luck that keeps her from learning her lesson. One time she was chasing my goats and I tried to zap her (a remote collar) and the batteries had just died. Fortunately, she stopped when I yelled. Another time she was getting the stuffing kicked out of her by an irate mama goat and she found a hiding place under a car, so no injuries. She always tries to torture the poor cat and no matter how the cat defends himself, she never has a mark, scratch, or cut on her. It is truly a wonder and he is not declawed. I have seen them go at it and he is vicious, but never a mark. The list goes on and on. Her biggest blessing is that I love her as much as I do because she is sooooo incredibly naughty and eats whatever she can get in her mouth. By the way, she has more toys than she could possibly play with.
