Snotty Nose
Well my little wether that I got at 2 and a half months old in poor condition is doing much better. His cord finally fell off at almost 3 months old. I got rid of the lice, cocci treated him, did his shots and etc. I have finally weaned him this week. He needed more so I did it until he was almost 5 months old. He wil be 5 months in 3 days and the weight tape says he is now 74 pounds. He does not look it to me. That is a 30 pound weight gain in 2 and a half months.
So all is good but the past two days, each morning I go to let him out of the barn/pen he has had a snotty nose. Not green, or yellow. Both mornings I gave him some kid's mucus relief and that seems to help. I also noticed that he is rubbing/biting one spot on his shoulder bald. We have had mosquitios really bad for the past week or so. I bought a bug zapper put it to the entrance of the barn and that has realy helped. Four times in an hour I have to beat them out of there it is so full of the nasty boogers.
Can they be causing him to get a runny nose? Eat his shoulder bald? Is he stressed because I weaned him? He is a bit spoiled so I would not put it past him. Do goats get seasonal allergies?
Here he is today looking much better:
