I just gave my kids 3x the wormer dose

I am under an enormous amount of stress right now and just gave my 3 month old kids 3x the ivermectin they needed. They are 40 lbs and I gave them 3cc's. Will they be o.k.?

Short and sweet...Yes.. they will be okay. I gave a 6 month old wild doe kid the whole darn tube once (by accident)and she was fine. Someone smarter than I can tell you about the goat metabolism, and ability to absorb the wormer, etc. but your kids will be fine.

Yup, I agree that they'll be fine. And at that dose, the Ivermectin might ACTUALLY get rid of the worms.

(Can you tell that I'm a little bitter and cynical?)

Been there, done that - but with a scarier wormer. Was told I may have damaged the doe's liver, but she was fine. And finally rid of her problem tapeworms.

As far as I know, the only really dangerous one to OD with is Levamisole. Everything else would take a really large overdose to cause damage.

I now run all of my stupid goat math med calculations past another person before I dose.

yep they'll be fine. I also accidentally dosed a 40lb pygmy doe with a whole tube of horse ivermectin (1200 lbs worth) so that would be ohh.....30 times the dose

Levamisole will give you horrible shaking and other neurological symptoms but they aren't leathal. Overdose Cydectin and it is leathal to kids, especially poured on. I collected all the stories of dead and dying goats from using Cydectin as a pour on when it first came out, you can read alot of the public posts on Nubian Talk. Only one private one included any vet records, she killed nearly her whole doe kid crop with Cydectin.

The problem with overdosing is that everything is processed by the goats liver, so although you get rid of the worms, or save the goat from pnemonia with freakishly high amounts of meds, about 3 weeks later the goat 'relapses" when in essence she is having symptoms of liver failure...it is one of the reasons the goat med site on saanendoah.com was started.
