How old should I band our buckling?

I have a buckling born on June 3rd of this year and as of this week this little bugger is mounting EVERYTHING! His sister, the geese, my dog! If I band him now will this stop the behavior?

I do not band mine until they are about 6-8 weeks old, and mine do mount a lot of things, (Never seen one mount a geese, I would love to see a picture of that). Even after mine are banded they do still mount for a bit.

If you expect the behavior to stop immediately and completely after banding, you'll probably be disappointed. But it should decrease. Don't forget to vaccinate for tetanus when you band, if he has not already been vaccinated.

Yeah, as long as he has those good ol' male hormones still flowing, he's gonna mount. After it's had time to clear the system, so to speak, things should calm down.

we always band ours as soon as they drop their stuff, which is in a few days after birth, no problems

sometimes they dont stop mounting. Here is my friend with her goat, he had jumped on her shouders and was doing the deed to her head when she snapped this pic. He was banded for a good 2 months here.

If my buckling was "doing it" to my head I too would be smiling, he would be supper. That picture is just wrong
