Burdizzo questions

I am considering buying one and wonder how hard it is to use if you are a beginner?
What do I need to do or avoid?
How hard do you squeeze it and for how long?
Thanks

not hard.

I did my first buckling under the supervision of a guy who uses one on his calves. you need someone to hold the goat belly up. you make sure the cord is in the clamp zone and the teat and testicle are clear. (testicle needs to be fully down)

you clamp it all the way shut. if you are a not very strong woman that is a little hard and may require two hands. the goat yells. the guy tells you to count to 11. then remove it. then you do the next side and the guy suggests you count to 11 a little slower this time.

the goat is over it before you are.

the next year when you have been milking the clamping part is easier.

I used one for the first time a few months ago. I found this link to be very helpful http://fiascofarm.com/goats/buck-wet...o.htm#burdizzo

The hardest part is the goat screaming and the crunch feel. I used the 9" one and it was simple to clamp down.

Ok this sentence makes me feel ill and yet prepares me for what is ahead. The crunch part sounds awful.
My husband is going to run the other way and be of no help. Even talking about it he hides "his boys" and leaves the room. I asked him which way is better cutting off the circulation and waiting weeks for them to rot or crushing them in a minute or so. He says neither and to stop talking about it, lol.

Yes I am planning on buying the 9 inch one and I guess I will have to use 2 hands and have my daughter hold him since I doubt my son will feel any different than my husband does.

Two more questions on these lines:

If you use the burdizzo and the goat retains his scrotum, would a judge looking at wethers then think he was cryptorchid or somehow deformed? How would they know?

Are all your bucks born with their testicles descended? Mine were and it really surprised me! Asking around here, everyone says that is the case unless they are cryptorchid (no one here has said they have seen a crypto buck born in their herds).

My son is 21 and feels just as strongly about the wrongness of squeezing ones jewels. My daughter is 12 and has no such cares and can probably hold him for me. I do not think either of us will like the crunching sound tho.
Hoofinit, I bet the judges have seen boys wethered this way. I have no plans to ever show my goats but I bet it would not be an issue. It looks like a small and useless sac. My one wether has it and it does not look like he is deformed.
Yes my buckling was born already descended and so have my friend's 9 bucklings recently born.
