what lab for cl, cae

What lab does everyong use for the blood testing? I actually work at a vet and am having a hard time finding a lab. I have access to antech, marshfield, and idexx, they are local. Antech has a CAE elisa test, but for the life of me cant find a pseudotuberculosis test. So, please share where you send, and how much the tests are. I imagine shipping must be overnight?

We use just a plain serum tube with the red stopper that we got at the doctor's office. They gave us a bunch for free.

You might be able to get them from your vet too.

I think that pan am labs offers all those things you need too, like the tubes and a printable shipping label. It has to be marked biohazard and the tubes have to be wrapped in paper towel and then put in a zip lock bag and put in with a freezer pack and then all that put in another zip lock bag and all that packed into a box with more paper towel. LOL

WSU is the gold standard for dairy goats. Don't get me started on why I don't think it's true Kind of made me throwup a little just typeing that

But it's just easier when I know I always sell at least a few milkers to bloodtest the ones who may make the hit list with WSU in early spring, so I am not testing milkers right before sales when I am super busy (figure every kid, 56 this year and every milker, 13 this year comes with a customer). This gives me not only their currect WSU test but their PAVL colostrum test to show customers who are buying them or kids out of them. For big sales (sold a $1000 and an $800 milker this year, but doelings and bucklings out of my best stock, I not only send the tests into WSU but have the vet pull the blood and send in the tests and read tattoo's so the buyers vet can contact my vet with any questions). Vicki

Matt,

Many people feel that WSU has the most "sensitive" test and they were the original CAE testers, so a negative from WSU carries more weight. Saves aggravation later.

We test with WSU because they are close to us anyway, but will probably use Biotracking this year for CAE and if someone wants an individual animal retested, we'll send it to WSU, at their expense. Why? Because we have been negative for CAE, both Boers and Dairy , for years, and because Biotracking is much less expensive for the same test.

And like Camille said Bio Tracking I bet becomes the new gold standard with titer levels you can track. Also with one tube you can find out if your doe is pregnant and CAE test all at the same time Love that! Vicki
