Fun with goats! *Pictures*

Well so far being a goat owner is TOTALLY awesome! They are so smart! I just love them..I love everything about them! Today some of my regular daycare kids, my daughter and I decided to train them all to lead and let them browse at the same time. It was so fun. I gave each kid a goat on a leash. The two tame goats are catching on fast. The other older goat isn't quite tame, but learning to lead okay. We also are training them to follow a bucket of oats (in case they ever get away). btw..I think I am doing pretty good...they haven't escaped yet.

I let the kids name them today. My daughter named the young goat Pinky, the boy I watched named the non-tame one Rocky, and his sister named the grey one Smokey. Pinky, Rocky and Smokey. Works for me. I think the names are funny!

Smokey... I am 95% sure that Smokey is the mother of Pinky.

Oh how fun! It really makes me smile to hear how much you are enjoying your goats I love the names (especially Rocky cuz we named our puppy that) These 3 cuties look like they are going to wonderful, loving life with you....how lucky for them. I'm sure Rocky will catch on and warm up real quick.
Just a suggestion...IF they ever were to get loose, don't chase...it will make it worse and you won't catch them. Use the bucket and lots of patience

I need to break some of mine to lead, I just never seem to find the time. For now what I seem to do is grab the lead goat (alpha girl) and lead her back. The others follow, usually bellowing about the injustice of it all.

This is what I do too, as long as everybody doesn't get distracted by the raspberry hedge:banana02:

Love your pictures! They're just as cute as they can be, and I'm glad you're enjoying them. I think goats are about the most delightful creatures I've ever known
