Giant Pygmy Goat

I have to get some better pictures, but anywho I was at the vet recently and the receptionist was teasing me about my goat Dunn. She told me he is HUGE for a pygmy goat. As far as I am aware he is completely purebred. The woman I got him from breeds nubians too, but he doesnt look like a kinder goat. He looks like a big pigmy, and he is pretty long legged and not really tubby.

Here are my babies at about 9 weeks old (they will be 1 year old soon)

Oh, Im just going by word of mouth on this. He didnt come with papers and both my boys are whethers. He is a brush eater, nothing special. But he looks like he is purebred. The pictures dont do him any justice. He is probably double the height of the average pygmy. He also stands about a head and a half taller than my nigerian.

Pygmies that are not specifically bred to the standard will gravitate to larger sizes and proper proportions.

Yes this is true but there are standards for them same as minature horses. Having been there done that at one time and if he is not papered I would doubt he is purebred. Does it matter to you? If you are not raising registered pygmy goats to sell I would not be concerned. He is cute (as most goats are in my opinion)

It doesnt matter if he is purebred or not, it just got me wondering from our vet trip. He is smaller than a "normal" sized goat, but bigger than a "normal" pygmy! Our nigerian is a tiny bugger though!

And thanks, I think they are adorable too! They are very happy together and very much inseperable.

This is the pen they are housed in:

They have a regular old house in there lol.

They are goats I know who have a porch on there goat house lol! They like it though, if the weather is nice enough they sleep the night out on it. If it is raining they like to stand on it too and look out. They are spoiled little brats. They dont like any kind of weather at all!

Dunn isnt very nice. He is pretty shy and after his medical treatment wont come near me at all unless I bring him apple leaves off the tree. Gittr (nigerian) is such a sweet heart though! He would crawl into your lap and sleep if you let him. The funny thing is that he is the much smaller one, but the pygmy HIDES behind him! LOL. He does have a mean streak, but only to the other goat. If I am working with him and dont have Gittr tied up, he will come out of nowwhere and head butt him!!! Its pretty funny, but the second day after Dunn had his abcess lanced Gittr came over and headbutted him in the face!!! I've never in my life heard a goat wail in pain like that! Poor guy!
