flaky skin

When I purchased my doe her hair was rather course. The vet said it looked good. I have added alfalfa and boss to her diet, and thought that I had noticed an improvement to her coat. Her shoulders and neck seem to be more shiny now.
The girls have always scratched themselves on the rock or the barn walls. which I assumed was normal reading that people put old brooms in there barn for goats to scratch on.
Well today I noticed tons of flaking, and the thinning of hair along her back and near her hips. It was hard to brush all those flakes off so none would fall in to the milk!!
Is it worms? lice ect.. Of course I 'm thinking the worse and she mite need some more oils in her diet
he is eatting 1 1/2 lbs dairy pellets, 3 handfuls of alfalfa, 3 handfuls of Boss 2xs a day. Hay am/ pm, & free choice minerals.

Try this. Give her some aloe vera. Put some in drinking water. It will help.

It sounds like they get enough BOSS & that usually helps with the dry skin. You can spray avon skin so soft mixed with a little bit of water on her dry areas & rub it in, it might help & surely won't hurt her, plus it will help keep the bugs away from her.
If her hair is really course & she's loosing alot of hair, etc. it could be a copper deficiency also.

Red face

I had a goat with severely flaky skin and scruffy coat. I assumed it was mites and treated with ivermectin. 2 weeks after treatment and it had cleared up completely. She looked beautiful.

I just bought my aloe Vera juice from Wal Mart. It was not bad at all.
