I need ur help about the doe is sick from a friend.

Hello. I got an email from the lady. Here it is ..

Holly,

How are you? We have had a problem with one of our goats. I'm reaching out for your expertise again. The other day I came home and my husband told me that Sissy could hardly walk and that she was staggering around like she was drunk. Her eyes looked a bit dialated and were moving back and forth like she was trying to focus but could not. We gave her a penicillin shot and she seemed to do a little better and last night we fed her constantlly to try to get it through her system, but she is still staggering around a little today, but not quite as bad. Do you have any idea what could have caused this. We thought maybe she ate something that semi poisoned her, but then she started coming out of it. It is definitely a mystery at this point. Please give me your advice and suggestions.

Thanks,

She already called the vet. Another email from her:

Well I called the vet this morning and he came to the house around
12:00 and
he said he didn't think she had polio but she does have every symtom. I
need to
pick up the probios. Where do you get yours? Here eyes are still going up and
down and the vet thinks that she has a bacterial infections or viral infection
that is causing the muscle that runs to the brain to react like that. He
suggested that we stop giving her the antibiotic and he gave her B 1 Thaimin
and a shot for the virual infection. We are to give her another B 1 shot two
more times tonight and 1 more shot of theВ medication for the viral
infection, then repeat tomorrow. He ask us to call him on Friday and tell him
how she is doing. Can you think of anything else that we can do for her for
this illness?

What do u think??

She doesn't say anything about a fecal or when they were wormed. That's the first thing I would check

He is treating polio with the b vitmains, not a viral infection. There isn't enough information to go on. If she was getting enough of the b1 being a vet script they would see marked improvement after the shots even though she will regress some and needs the shots for days. Polio is brought on by rumen problems, change in feed, not enough to eat etc....I would also think maybe listerosis, maybe check their grain and hay for mold...or tetanus, in which she will be down by now and dead by tommorrow. Tell me about it . I told her that the vet dont make any sense to me about viral infections or something. It sounds like listerosis or polio. But I told her that the vet treating her goat is polio becuz of the thamine shots. U know. That is why the vet does make me confuse sometimes.

If it's listeriosis she needs to continue the antibiotics.

Hello i want to let u guys know that I went to her house. I see her. It is very obvouis is polio. Becuz she cant see one side of the eye. And she is like bobbling her head and not straight when she walks. They said that she acts like little bit better when they gave her thamine shots but one problem her vet wont give her more thamine shots. So I told her to get fortified b complex.. The vet being jerk to her. Oh well.
