Final Kidding

Looks like today is the big day for my final doe.

This is my final kidding for this year - and ever. On one side I hope she has lots of bucklings (she's pretty wide) so I can leave 'em on her and simply dam raise 'em till they're butchering size.

On the other side, I think I have a prospective pet buyer who wants a couple bottle babies as pets - I should probably email him and see if he can come pick them up asap after birth instead of waiting the normal 2 weeks, because I don't have the spare milk to raise more kids on. I'll probably let her dam raise a week or so then allow him to pull them straight off the doe to bottle raise.

Anywho, more news and pics as the situation develops.

My last kidding is just over.

Triplet miniatures - two bucklings and a doeling. Two that look like the sire (and, incidentally, the grandsire as well - they're inbred, lol) and one that looks like the dam's sister.

I THINK I have a home in line for two of 'em. The other buckling is gonna be eaten.

At least my last kidding for several years went well. Momma's talking to babies right now. Took her long enough though - noticed her ligaments were different yesterday evening around milking time, she finally went just now at 7:15. 24 hours after I noticed she would go 'tomorrow', she went. hehe.
