Unhappy Lonely Buck

Yes I know goats need a pal. He has been crying and crying AND CRYING. So he is 3 month old. If I introduce a new buck will my buck beat the snot out of the newbie or welcome it? When if ever do you have to worry about introducing bucks? I would like to get him a pal weather then eat it in a year then get another. Would this work or would fights break out? Would he miss his old pal? Or if you have any suggestions on how to handle it not how I should have please suggest away! If you have a buckling please let me know I am interested if it is a good idea.

We just went thru this. Our little buckling is 3 mos old too and needed a playmate so we got a little 2 wk old buckling at a show on friday that we will wether. They get along great. There is some pushing here and there but for the most part they play very well together.

I would expect them to establish a pecking order and if they aren't too close in size and temperment it shouldn't be a problem.

U know. I just got my adult buck on Saturday. I have two tiny baby bucklings. I was very surprised that my adult buck is really gentle to my baby bucklings. I have never seen like that before until this time. I remember my bucks will fight with young bucklings and they become good friends in little while. It is normal like the person said pecking orders..

I was thinking about getting as young as possible he is very sweet and gentle. So I figured it probably no problem.

It depends on the individual goats personality really. I have one that is very good with any animal smaller than himself and I had one that challenged everything in sight(not in a mean way just very very very bucky). My breed (Nigerians) do tend to be more docile, but each animal is a distinct creature and has its own likes and dislikes.
